Alivizos (Loisos) Sofos

Dr. Alivisos Sofos studied Pedagogy at the University of Lecce / Italy and Maraslio Teachers College from where he graduated in 1987. He continued his undergraduate studies at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz in
Germany: Educational Studies, Sociology and Italian Literature / Linguistics. At the same university he completed his postgraduate studies in 1996 and was named Doctor of the Department of Philosophy / Pedagogy of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität.
From 1996 to 1998 he worked as a contract Instructor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and other German universities (Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Landau- Koblenz). From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a research associate at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz in the fields: General Pedagogy, Pedagogy of New Media, School of Education and from 2002 until 2004 as a research associate in the research project “Teaching Media”. Since 1998, he was also scientific advisor to the central administration body of the 16 Youth and Social Ministries of the federal states of Germany for the Protection of Young People, where he worked a) on the development of online educational curriculum, b) in student’s education programs and c) on organizing student’s research projects. Since 2004, he is an elected faculty member in the Department of Education, Faculty of Humanities Studies, University of the Aegean.

Apostolos Kostas (B.Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D.) is a member of the Laboratory & Teaching Staff at the Pedagogical Department of primary Education of the University of the Aegean, where he teaches various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Also, he is Tutor at the Hellenic Open University in the Thematic Unit EKP65 “Open and Distance Education”. Since 2018, he is elected Director of the Center for Continuous Education and Lifelong Learning, University of the Aegean. His research interests include ICT in Teacher Education with issues affecting the reflection and professionalism of emerging teachers, Instructional Design and Technologies for Online Distance Education, Online Educational Communities and Web 2.0 technologies in education.

Dimitris Spanos is a member of the Laboratory & Teaching Staff at the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the University of the Aegean in the Department of Pedagogical Sciences and Psychology.
He studied Computer Science at the Polytechnic of Patras and graduated in 1997. In 2000 he started working in the Secondary Technical Education, teaching computers. He continued his studies on the use of new technologies in Education at Master’s (2007) and Doctoral level (2015). In 2022 he graduated from the Pedagogical Department of Primary Educatuion of Rhodes.
His scientific interests include the use of technology in education and the practicum of students. He is a member of the Media Pedagogy Research Group that operates within the Psychology, Pedagogical Research and Media in Education Laboratory.
Stefanos Giasiranis is an IT teacher and he has been teaching in secondary education for over 30 years. He completed the postgraduate program with the title “Educational Sciences – Education with the use of New Technologies ” at the Pedagogical Department of Elementary Education of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of the Aegean. In the same department, he completed his PhD research entitled “Self-regulated learning and MOOCs: An alternative proposal to non-formal education”. He is a member of the research group “Digital Media in Education and Media Literacy” of the Laboratory of Psychology, Pedagogical Research and Media in Education of the University of the Aegean. He has taken part in various research projects and he has taught at the Pedagogical Department of the University of the Aegean with a fixed-term contract and in a number of training programs in various organizations. His writing work includes articles in Greek and foreign scientific journals, conference proceedings, co-authorship and participation in collective book volumes. His research interests include MOOCs, Augmented Reality and educational robotics. He is currently investigating video quality criteria in MOOCs as part of his postdoctoral research.

Kassimi Maria is a teacher with retraining in Special Education (for 2 years) and a total teaching experience of 36 years. She has graduated from Pedagogical Academy of Larissa and she has simulated university degree from the National Kapodistrian (University of Athens). She has a degree in English language (Proficiency of Michigan), the Level 1 Computer User Certificate and an ECDL Computer Diploma. She has graduated of the postgraduate study program “Design and Development of Educational Units” of TEPAES of Aegean. She is a PhD candidate in the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of Aegean. She has extensive experience in distance learning education and in creation of educational issues in digital form.
Filippos Tzortzoglou is a Ph.D student and member of Media Pedagogy Research Group since 2015.
His thesis focuses on the design of educational AR applications in regards with students’ developmental and cognitive abilities. His interests include the utilisation of AR in teaching and learning as well as the development of educational tools based on AR. He has been involved in various research projects in the fields of mobile learning, ICT in education, e-learning and MOOCs both as a researcher and project manager. He has publications in conferences, journal and books. In the past, he has worked as an education advisor for companies in the field of XR.

Spyros Spyrou is a teacher from 2009 until today at the Primary School of the Private Schools of Rhodes “Pythagoras” (College of Rhodes) and since 2014 Principal of the same school. He holds two postgraduate diplomas, one with the title “Educational Sciences – Education with the use of New Technologies” and the other with the title “Models of Design and Development of Educational Units”. Since October 2019, he is a PhD candidate at the Pedagogical Department of Elementary Education of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of the Aegean and a member of the research group “Digital Media in Education and Media Literacy” of the Laboratory of Psychology, Pedagogical Research and Media in Education of the University of the Aegean (P. T.D.E.) with professor Mr. Sofo as coordinator. Also, in 2013, he participated in the digitization program of the official elementary and high school textbooks in iBooks format for iPad mobile devices of the Ministry of Education (ebooks.edu.gr). In addition, since 2018 he has created and implements the course “Think, Plan & Technology”, a course governed by the principles of STEM. Since 2014, he participates as a reviewer in the educational platform edupad.gr for educational applications for iPhone and iPad. Also, since 2020 he is the founder of the educational blog “EdTech Teacher” as well as the YouTube channel with the same name. It also has a rich educational and research activity with the use of digital media in education such as: Augmented Reality, Distance education, Gamification of learning, Platforms for the creation of interactive, digital material, etc.
Vasileios Paraschou is active as business consultant and an external associate of Aegean Univesrity since 2009.
He has studied Statistics and Insurance Sciences and holds Master’s degrees in Business Administration, in Education Sciences with the Use of New Technologies and a professional specialization in Project Management.
He is a PhD Candidate in the DPE of the University of the Aegean focusing on the educational use of Social Media.
His main research interests involve the use of social media in educational settings, the quality of e-learning and online education/education with the use of digital technologies, the design and development of digital content.

Panagiotis Kanychis was born in Rhodes. He graduated from the Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete, holds a master’s degree, and is a Ph.D. candidate-researcher at the University of the Aegean. He has participated in several teacher training courses as a trainer and is a coordinator of various educational programs. As a Scientix ambassador, he has worked on several European projects in collaboration with European Schoolnet and other international organizations. He has numerous presentations and publications in conference proceedings and journals. He is a Fulbright Scholar and a member of the Advisory Board of the European Association of STEAM Educators.
