Launch of the European Project DATA-READY

A new Erasmus+ policy experimentation project has officially begun under the title: “Empowering Education through Data Literacy Integration in Compulsory Education (DATA-READY)”. The project runs for 36 months (March 2025 – February 2028) and is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme, specifically under the Policy Experimentation action (ERASMUS-EDU-2024-POL-EXP-DIGITAL).

Project Objective

DATA-READY aims to establish data literacy as a core skill in primary and lower secondary education across Europe by:

  • Developing a European data literacy skills framework.
  • Designing and delivering training programs for teachers.
  • Piloting and testing interventions in schools.
  • Producing evidence-based policy recommendations.

Work Packages

The project is structured around six interlinked Work Packages (WPs):

  1. WP1 – Project Management and Quality Assurance
Coordination, evaluation, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. WP2 – Research and Best Practices Mapping
Analysis of existing strategies and development of the European framework.
  3. WP3 – Teacher Training and Capacity Building
Creation of training modules for both pre-service and in-service teachers.
  4. WP4 – Experimentation Phase
Pilot implementation in schools and assessment of impact.
  5. WP5 – Policy Engagement and Recommendations
Drafting and promotion of policy proposals based on project findings.
  6. WP6 – Communication, Dissemination, and Sustainability
Project visibility, stakeholder outreach, and long-term impact strategy.

Target Groups

DATA-READY focuses on multiple target audiences:

  • Primary and secondary school teachers.
  • Pre-service teachers (university students in education).
  • Educational policymakers and authorities.
  • Schools and educational institutions.
  • Students, as the end beneficiaries of the interventions.

International Partnership

The project is implemented by a transnational consortium of organizations from Greece, Portugal, Germany, Poland, and Cyprus, coordinated by the University of the Aegean (Greece).

Through strong European cooperation, DATA-READY seeks to contribute to the modernization of educational systems and promote data literacy as a vital 21st-century skill.
